Springtime in Seattle! We are fortunate to be surrounded by such spectacular color, scent and light. The days are growing longer. The time for rebirth and renewal is upon us.
Celebrations during this beautiful season of the year include, Earth Day, Easter, Passover and Ramanavami. The Medicine Wheel has turned to the Eastern Gate and Archangel Uriel is our guide and companion during Spring. Uriel inspires and supports us in our desire for knowledge, clarity and focus.
I am reminded of the Latin term used by Hildegard Von Bingen, Viriditas, the origin of which actually stems from two words meaning Green and Truth.
Hildegard Von Bingen (from Bingen on the Rhine) lived between the 11th - 12th Centuries. She was a German Benedictine Abbess, composer, writer, painter, healer philosopher, Christian Mystic and visionary.
I'd like to share something I recently read from a favorite website, Healthy Hildegard:
“For Hildegard,spring was a natural time to invite viriditas,a central theme in her teachings on creativity, growth, and the divine light.
This time also allows us to focus on what we choose to carry forward and to contemplate the coming abundance, the healing light and energy of the growing sun. New and invigorating ideas growing inside of us, and planting the seeds of faith in ourselves that we will eventually harvest to sustain us through the coming year.”
I'd like to suggest that you read aloud Hildegard's poem through twice, listening for a word or phrase that speaks to you, and then ponder these words in silence…
O most honored Greening Force,
You who roots in the Sun;
You who lights up, in shining serenity, within a wheel
that earthly excellence fails to comprehend.
You are enfolded
in the weaving of diving mysteries.
You redden like the dawn
and you burn: flame of the sun.
~ Hildegard von Bingen, Causae et Curae
Wishing you a beautiful season of rebirth and renewal!
With warmest wishes and blessings - Valerie
